It seems like every day you hear about great new apps for your iPhone or Android-powered device. There are nearly half a million apps available for the Apple iOS and with such a wide range of options , it can sometimes be overwhelming trying to sort through the clunker apps to find the hidden gems. My own phone has about three pages of apps I never even touch (and oddly enough, haven't found the time to delete either). But I also have a pretty nice collection of extremely useful and super creative apps on my phone. Here are a few of my favorites:
- The Sleep Cycle App
This may seem like an odd one. The idea of having an electronic device watch you while you sleep might not seem incredibly appealing but I can assure you there is no Terminator business happening here. The Sleep Cycle uses your iPhone's motion detector to analyze how you move in your sleep. Since your movements between sleep cycles is different, it figures out when you are in your lightest sleep phase and wakes you up then. To really feel like you've gotten a great night's sleep, try waking up in your lightest sleep cycle. The sleep you'll get and the app are both pretty amazing. - Can I Drive Yet
This app is for the party animals out there who are looking to be responsible (which I hope is all of you). You enter your body weight and a few other details about yourself including what you've had to drink and how long you've been drinking and the app uses National Highway Traffic Safety Administration standards to calculate if you are fit to operate a vehicle. This app can be a life-saver. Literally. - Evernote
This app is actually fairly popular and for good reason. Evernote is basically a big notepad system with a few extra perks and features. The app allows users to record voice notes, memos and location-based information. Nothing too fancy right? Well, you can also sync the app with your computer and other mobile devices so when a note is recorded, you have it on your work computer, home laptop and iPad.
